Summary of class disscussion around the importance and function of digipacks;
We were told as a class that an digipak plays a cruical part in relation to an promotion of an single/album. We were told that it brings the punters in,increasing popularity and sales, a digipak is what makes a single/album reach a majority of people.
In today's lesson Wednesday,07,12,11 we as a class were introduced to Photo Shop Elements, which is a software that manipulates images, we were previously told that using Photo Shot Elements we would be required to produce a digipack. Below are screen shots of me producing a practice digipack using one of the media teacher (Dan) as the main focus.
To get started with the tutorial it was necessary to locate Photo Shop Element software tab on the mac.
Once i had opened PSE it was necessary for me to open up the right dimension template,which was 2 panel's. The template was found in a folder named resources that was in documents.
Once i was on the right track with regards to opening up the right dimension template i was exposed to a variety of tabs, which we as a class were told to experiment using. I learnt my way around cropping images,adding effects, background colour and text. Below you can see all the starting point of my digipack where i have included a background and and image of Dan a media teacher.
As i became more advanced around using PSE i found that i was able to incorporate series of images instead on the 1. As you can see above i decided to incorporate a city background instead of a plain coloured one.
As part of our digipack it was necessary to include text, we were recommended by our teachers to include text in our individual digipack by creating them using Quark XPress a software specialised in layout and desktop publishing. Using Quark i was able to include a title (life in London) and a list of potential songs that the above artist presumably produced.
