Researching Ancillary products: Analysis of magazines

I will be looking at some magazine advertisements, from previous student work. All of which relate to my music video genre, which is a bit broad, consisting of pop, indie and abit of dubstep.

Analysis 1

This Magazine Advertisement for the new album by 'Stephanie Jackson' in terms of genre may be classified as having a genre of pop/indie.

This is an examplea magazine advertisement from previous student work.

I think this magazine advertisement is very good as covers all the conventions of ancillary products.
  • Everything is in place, as it all seems to link in and therefore connects with each aspect.
  • The font is clear and really goes with the artist and genre.
  • All pictures are in focus
One additional aspect that i though went particularly well is the use of the 'three colour rule' using only black white and brown, colours of which worked very well with each other. The ladies hair colour is actually brown aswell and they have carried this colour throughout the whole magazine advertisemnt.

The magazine advertiseent also gives some background information for the audience. for example at the bottom of the advert it shows the realease date, which will allow the audience to know when the good is already for sale. As a result this could increase demand for the album.

Also at the bottom right hand corner they have clearly shown that the audience can keep up to date with the artist through social networking site, for example 'facebook'. I believe this is a very effective way of reaching out to the wider audience and building a fan base.

 Analysis 2

The Magazine advertisemnt for the new album called 'Grace-journey of the heart' may be classified as having a genre of pop/indie/dubstep.

This is an examplea magazine advertisement from previous student work.

I think this magazine advertisement is very good as covers all the conventions of ancillary products.
  • Everything is in place, as it all seems to link in and therefore connects with each aspect.

One additional aspect that i though went particularly well is the use of the 'three colour rule' using only red, grey and white, colours of which worked very well with each other. These colours in addition to the block fonts show that the artist is using a theme which is minimalistic and not explicit.

The magazine advertiseent also gives some background information for the audience letting them know where they can purchase the album. This perfect knowledge that consumers have in the market will potentially rise demand. For example through Amazon.

Analysis 3

The Magazine advertisement fir the new album by 'The Martiniques' may be classified as having a genre of pop.

One additional aspect that i though went particularly well is the use of the 'three colour rule' using only red, black and white, colours of which worked very well with each other. The ladies dress belt is also red and they have carried this out throughout the whole magazine advertisement which i believe worked very effectively, in making the advert appealing to the wider audience.

The magazine advertiseent also gives some background information for the audience letting them know where they can purchase the album. This perfect knowledge that consumers have in the market will potentially rise demand. For example through HMV.
