Carol Vernallis
-To summarise Vernallis, her observations and theory tell me that their is a stark difference between editing in film and TV and editing a music videos, her theory on music videos suggests that the camera moves to the "beat" of the song it accompanies as opposed to moving along a linear narrative or plot in a TV production or film.
Her theory also suggests that you are allowed to be a lot more creative and focus on performance in music videos as the need for continuity is not a necessity in music video production, hence why she analysed a significant amount of jump cuts in music videos as opposed to TV or film, and a lot more focus on transitions, such as "wipes" or 'fades".
She does stress though that their is a structure in music videos, and that comes in the form of the base track, which is a full length take recording of the artist and the song, and is usually "cut" to during the chorus, to provide familiarity.
