Researching Ancillary Products: Analysis of a magazine advertisement that relates to your genre - you must outline how they relate to your genre and audience

The above magazine advertisement is for La Roux's eponymous debut album. With regards to genre and audience the advertisement uses the conventions synonymous with dub-pop and alternative musicians. The simple photography and use of dark colours accentuate the "no gimmicks" demeanour associated with our genre of choice - this is reinforced further by displaying the critical acclaim the album received - concluding that the artist may be more interested in critical acclaim as opposed to commercial success - meaning that dub-pop artists cater to a very niche audience and market.
