A function and purpose of a music video is to mainly entertain the fans whilst keeping them interested. A music video is another way to advertise the artist or band to their audience wheather it has a small niche audience or a very large global audience. It’s an easy and convenient way to get millions of views therefore attracting the audience. For a successful music video one of the main functions for it will be promoting the artist or band in an attempt to get work, therefore offer high quality. As long as the artist is well known for example may have millions of YouTube views and therefore also has a good reputation it wouldn’t necessary need to sell millions of albums to make its money. This is because they can still retain money through gigs and advertisements given that they are promoted well and have a big fan base.
