On the 23rd of September me and my class watched 3 previous student videos and also analysed them. Ultimately we had to give them a score of 40, 40 being the best and 1 being the worst, we were given a list of technical skills that the video must include for a high grade. These include
• Holding shot steady where appropriate
• Framing shot appropriately
• Variety of shot distances
• Material appropriate
• Appropriate mise-en-scene
• Editing to make meaning clear
• Varied shot transitions.
• Using sound with images and editing appropriately
By analysing the videos and looking at how well they fit into the specification, there was one group that particularly stood out from the rest and was by far my favourite. This group included 4 students named Nigel, Beverly, Camilla, Irene and scored an A* achieving 39 out of 40. the video was of the genre UK RnB and I believe it was aimed at Teenagers and it also followed the conventional Verse/Chorus Structure. I really liked this video for many reasons firstly the girl Camilla showed some really good lip synching as the words were never not in time with the mouth movement. Also they used the sound with the images and editing very appropriately, they always made sure to move in time with the beat, jump cuts also took place in time with the beat. Overall it was my favourite video out of the ones we viewed in class.
