Research for music video

A short summary of the main points of Vernalis's theory;

Analysing Media Language in Music Videos:
The main points of Vernallis ideas on editing and camerawork in music video is that Edits In music video come much more frequently than in film and that many of them stand out as disjuncture (Where there is little connection between the videos visuals and the lyrics).
Vernallis believes that edits in music videos mainly in those that are (classic broadcast fiction) are constantly broken in between, in order to draw attention to what is on the screen making the continuity flow of the video being frequently cut off to intrigue the audience on the basis of what is visual, Usually the edits will be obvious to draw attention to themselves such as wipes and jump cuts.
It is a frequent use in music video to use a master shot (base track) to give the actual video a structure to follow, by including a master shot most music video is able to stay on track allowing the video follow continuity. It is quite usual for the camera to move in time with the music in music video as a form of a master shot.
Examples of music video that illustrate the three of Vernallis Main ideas are;
