Research for music video

Review your favourite previous student video

Lesson (4) 23rd September 2011;
In class today I and my class watched 3 previous student videos and were asked to analyse them and give them a mark out of 40, with 40 being the best and 0 being the worst. We were given a list of Marking criteriaand technical skills to base our marking around. These included;

After analysing and marking all 3 videos , there was one group that particularly stood out for me, which was (group n.o 2 Bilal's group). This group achieved an astonishing score of 40 out of 40 achieving an A*grade.  The video was based around the RNB genre and fluently used the verse/chorus structure. I believe the video was aimed at teenagers, living the party life. This video was very effective through the use of Mis-en-Scene, which inplied they had carried out a lot of pre research as to where to locate the music video, who should be involved and what the motif should be. Bilal and his groups music video included a dj (djing in a night club, belly dancers dancing in an Turkish/Mediterranean restaurant and a graffiti artist graffiting the groups name on a public graffiti wall in south bank.  The music video did not only stand out beacause of its use of high standard Mis-En-Scene, but because of its lighting which brang the whole production alive. The music video did have a few out of tune lip syncing but all in all it was not taken to much into conseiderationas the Mis-En-Scene and lighting covered up the little technical problems.
